Join this leisurely ramble with a Birmingham Ramblers group leader and enjoy social walking with our friendly members.

It is very helpful for the walk leader to have prior knowledge of numbers that will be on this walk. This is a 4.5-mile circular walk from Alvechurch Station. Easy walking total ascent 280ft. Footpaths, towpaths, lanes and roads. 2 stiles.

The walk starts at 11am from the car park at Alvechurch Station, Station Road, B48 7SE. Please note the leader will meet the group at Alvechurch Station.

Joining By train: catch 10.15 am train from New Street Station to Alvechurch (Redditch Line). Arrives at 10.48 am. Off peak return £5.90. Travel pass holders will need a ticket from Longbridge to Alvechurch return. Return trains are at .06 and.36 past the hour. 

Joining by Car; park at Alvechurch Station car park (free) B48 7SE entrance off Station Road. Or park on roads in Alvechurch. 

The route sets out east to walk through Alvechurch via St Lawrence Church yard and the local park. It then goes north under the M42 to join the Old Birmingham Road and continues to join the canal tow path. Turning right the route goes along the canal to Lower Bittell Reservoir where we can stop for a snack and admire canal life. Turning back south we leave the canal and continue through fields, tracks and lanes then over the motorway before joining the canal. The route continues on the canal back to Alvechurch with a diversion to the Weighbridge Inn for light refreshments. From there it is ½ mile to the station.
