PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FINISHING TIME OF THIS EVENT SHOWN ABOVE IS ONLY APPROXIMATE AND CANNOT BE GUARANTEED; IT WILL DEPEND ON FACTORS SUCH AS THE WEATHER AND THE WALKING PACE OF THE GROUP.

Walk leaders: Paul Hatton (morning), Sandra Sutton (afternoon)

This is a linear walk with a 6 miles canal walk in the morning and an optional 2.5 miles afternoon walk

Meet at the entrance to Kings Norton station by 10.15 am.
By train: The West Midlands Railway Cross City line service from New Street, departing at 9.53 am, arrives Kings Norton 10.08 am (check times on the day).
By bus, services through Cotteridge for Kings Norton station are the 45, 47, 11 and 18.

The morning walk is almost completely flat along the Birmingham- Stratford-upon-Avon canal towpath, starting with with a short road walk and path through Kings Norton playing fields to the recently restored Junction House.

We have lunch at The Drawbridge Inn (Drawbridge Lane, Shirley, B90 1DD). In the afternoon there is a short optional walk on tracks through the Christmas tree farm, with a small amount of road walking. After the farm there will be short section of canal back to The Drawbridge pub and then lane walking to Shirley station.

WM travel pass holders will be able to use their passes for the return journey to Moor Street. There will also be an alternative, using the no 49 bus which picks up outside Shirley station. This will take walkers to Cotteridge/Kings Norton and there's a stop outside King Norton station.

Bookings for this walk will close at 06.00 on Wednesday 17 April 2024. After this, please email bhamramblersenquiries@gmail.com or contact us through our contact form at https://cobra.eventcube.io/support-hub/contact to enquire about any late availability for the walk.

If you later find that you are unable to join us it would be helpful if you let us know by sending an email to bhamramblersenquiries@gmail.com or let us know though our contact form at https://cobra.eventcube.io/support-hub/contact- this will be passed on to the walk leader and will prevent any delay to the start of the walk should the leader be waiting for you.
