This is a 3-mile circular with refreshment facilities.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS: To join: Meet at 11.00 am by the clock tower at the junction of Hagley Road and Lordswood Road. Bus station post code B67 5DP.

By Bus, the no. 9 from Colmore Row runs every 10 minutes and takes approximately 20 minutes. Suggest the 10.31 am Colmore Row arriving Bearwood at 10.49 am. Alight opposite Lightwoods Park. Bus No 11 outer circle stops on Lorsdwood Road, alight opposite the Kings Head, Lordswood Road. Cross by the lights to the Clock Tower. Buses approximately every 10 minutes.

By car: There is limited car parking around Lightswood Park.

The walk is approximately 3 miles on easy tracks and paths. We will stop at the Golf club cafe towards the latter part of the walk for drinks etc. before retracing our route to the start. The walk begins at the Clock Tower and crosses Lightswood park before turning into Warley Woods . The entrance is framed by the “Ancient” trees of this park, some 400years old as we wind our way to the Cafe and Golf Club. (Toilet facilities available here) Continuing on a perimeter track in woodland around the Golf Course, we come to the site of the original house known as Warley Abbey, built for Hubert Galton. There are interesting trees here, planted at the beginning of 20th Century. Crossing the meadow to more plantations designed by Repton to give a view, the route explores more trees before returning to the cafe for a hot drink. A favourite woodland for Julie Walters, you can learn more on BBC Sounds, Open Country/Warley Woods. Start 11am. Approximate finish  with coffee break 1.30 pm.

Expressions of interest for this walk will close at 06.00 on Tuesday 23 January 2024. After this, please email bhamramblersenquiries@gmail.com to enquire about any late availability for the walk.

If you later find that you are unable to join us it would be helpful if you let us know by sending an email to bhamramblersenquiries@gmail.com or let us know though our contact form at https://cobra.eventcube.io/support/contact - this will be passed on to the walk leader and will prevent any delay to the start of the walk should the leader be waiting for you.
