Walk leader: John Chapman

This is a circular walk of just over 3 miles.

We meet at Warrens Hall Car Park, Dudley Road, Rowley Regis, B65 8NA at 11.00 am

Public transport access is via the No.X8 bus from stop (SH2) on Colmore Row, City centre, which runs directly to the Nature Reserve, the bus stop being slightly before the Nature Reserve Car Park on Dudley Road. lf it is more convenient for you this bus can be caught at the Bearwood lnterchange. Travel is free for those with West Midlands Travel Cards, otherwise the purchase of a Day Saver Ticket is the most economical option. Return for public transport attendees is via Bus no X8 from the stop situated diagonally opposite the arrival bus stop.

The walk entails a fairly steep climb near the start, hence the slightly shorter length than the usual four miles. Much of the walk is on hard paved surfaces, but there are stretches on earthen paths where muddy patches are likely. A descent which is quite steep in places is involved at one point in the walk; there is one reasonably easy stile on that descent. We see some above ground evidence of Netherton Tunnel en-route, so this walk compliments our previous walk that actually took us through the Tunnel (we don’t tackle the Tunnel this time!). At the highest point on the walk, we have splendid views out beyond Netherton and Brierley Hill. We will stop for a refreshment break near Cobb’s Engine House en-route. You will need to bring your own refreshments as we do not pass the Visitor Centre on our way.

Expressions of interest for this walk will close at 06.00 on Tuesday 14 May 2024. After this, please email bhamramblersenquiries@gmail.com to enquire about any late availability for the walk.

If you later find that you are unable to join us it would be helpful if you let us know by sending an email to bhamramblersenquiries@gmail.com or let us know though our contact form at https://cobra.eventcube.io/support-hub/contact - this will be passed on to the walk leader and will prevent any delay to the start of the walk should the leader be waiting for you.
